Morigaon College was established on 1st July, 1964. It is a one of the oldest institution of higher education of undivided Nagaon district of Assam. It has already completed 53 years as one of the premiere institutions engaging actively in nurturing and disseminating ray of education in the region.

The college is located in the eastern part of the Morigaon Town- the headquarter of Morigaon district of Assam. It is 70 Km away from Dispur, the state capital of Assam. The nearest railway station is Jagiroad (23km) and nearest airport is LGB airport, Borjhar, Guwahati (96 Km).

The college has an administrative Block, Academic Block, full-fledged Computer Laboratory, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Library, Boys' Hostel, Girls' Hostel, Gymnasium, Play Ground, Botanical Garden, Canteen, Green House and a newly constructed indoor stadium in the campus . There is a separate 'Science Block' for facilitating teaching and learning of Science subjects. Recently, two new Halls (HI & V2) have been constructed in the third floor of the Science Block for conducting seminars and classes. A new girls' hostel has also been constructed for the convenience of girl students'.

i) Guru Charan Medhi Central Library

Guru Charan Medhi Central Library is named after the founder Principal of the College. It is an RFID based fully automated library using SOUL 2.0 software.

Facilities and services provided by the library :

• The Libarary has a stock of 34,700 books including texts and references; 26 numbers of Journals/ Magazines; 4 daily News Paper; one employment news; more than 6,000 e­ journals and I, 35,000 e-books through 'N-LIST' subscription.
• Separate 'E-Resource cum Internet Browsing Section' for the students is available.

• 'Book Bank' facility is offered for poor and needy students.

• Reprography facility is available instantly at a nominal price.

ii) Departmental Library

Apart from the central library, each department has its own library with a good collection of books, both texts and references for the benefit of students and faculty members.

iii) A. K Gohain Memorial Hall (AKG)

It is a well equipped hall with latest facilities for conducting meetings, seminars etc.

iv) College Auditorium

The college has an auditorium with estimated capacity of I,200 seats. It is well equipped with acoustic sound system that enables the comfortable enactment of various cultural activities of the college.

v) Seminar Hall
In addition to AKG, the college has a sophisticated seminar hall with an estimated capacity of 80 seats. The newly constructed Hall (HI) has a seat capacity of 400. 

vi) Gymnasium
There is a gymnasium in the college campus with modem equipments.

vii) Games and Sports Facilities
There are different facilities for games and sports in the college. College has a rich stock of sports tools and equipments and a big play ground for outdoor games.

viii) KKHSOU Study Centre
A study centre of Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University was started in the year 2007. It offers graduate, post graduate and certificate courses in a wide array of subjects.

ix) Research Facility
The department of Chemistry ofMorigaon College has a well equipped laboratory which provides research facilities.

x) Remedial Course
The college regularly organizes remedial courses for students as needed.

xi) Boys' and Girls' Common Room
There are well-furnished separate common rooms in the college for both boys and girls.

xii) National Service Scheme (NSS)
The college has a unit of NSS which encourages the students in social service. It inculcates social consciousness and a sense of responsibility, discipline and dignity of labour among the youths.

xiii) National Cadet Corps (NCC)
NCC, boys' and girls' wing under 8th Assam Battalion, Nagaon, under the Directorate of Shillong is hosted in the college.

xiv) Green house
A Green House was set up in the year 2007-08 by an organization called Anti-Global Warming Society, Morigaon. It is a noble step towards protecting the degrading environmental conditions. It aims at motivating the students and the local community in creating environmental awareness.

xv) Competitive Examination Training Course
The college introduced a competitive examination training course in the year 2016. This course trains up aspirants of APSC, UPSC, Banking Service etc. 

xvi) Students' Welfare Fund
There is a provision for the meritorious students of weak financial background to obtain financial help.

xvii) Spoken English
The college introduced a Spoken English Course for the students in 2015 to enhance the English speaking ability of the students.

xviii) Yoga and Meditation Centre
The meditation centre endeavors to improve the spiritual and mental health of the college family.
Yoga has been being included in the routine from the session 2007-08.

xix) Geo Help
It is a fund initiated by the department of Geography for its students (Major only) who are financially weak.

xx) College Canteen
The college has a well furnished canteen for students & teachers.

xxi) Coaching on Sports
Morigaon College provides coaching for various sports such as Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton etc in the college premises. It was introduced in the year 2016.

xxii) Vermicompost Plant
A Vermicompost Plant has been setup in the college campus for the production ofBio-fertilizer under the guidance of the Department of Chemistry and Botany.

xxiii) Career Guidance and Counseling Cell
There is a full-fledged career guidance and counseling cell in the college. The Faculty-in-Charge of the cell organizes career guidance and counseling program regularly. For the benefit of the students, External Resource Persons are invited for counseling and guidance . 


i) College Uniform:
H.S. & Degree Students: Boys must be dressed in white shirt and black formal pant. Close fitting & low waist/ mid-rise/ low-rise pants will not be considered. The dress code for girls is blue sa/war, white kameez and blue dupatta. Short fitting dress & leggings/pants will not be considered. Shirt, Pant and Salwar-kameez must be of appropriate length- neither too long nor too short. Only maroon coloured blazer or cardigan during winter for both boys and girls is recommended. Jacket, jeans and T-shirts are not a part of the dress code. A college logo (which shall be supplied by college authority during admission period) has to be affixed by each student on shirt pocket position (for boys) and kameez on right arm position (for girls). All students must maintain the dress code of the college. No student shall be allowed to attend classes, festivals or any functions without proper uniform. Students must carry their Identity cards to the college.

a) The pass marks in each paper is 30% of total marks in the paper (External + internal).

b) A Student who fails in one or more papers should repeat the papers by attending all the classes and by appearing for internal as well as external examinations in the next examination. A student shall get 3 chances for clearing the papers within five years from the date of admission to the degree programme.

c) A Student who has completed a semester may be allowed to proceed to the next semester irrespective of the number of papers in which he/she failed.

d) In order to complete a course a student must obtain pass marks in all the papers in the semesters offered in the concerned course ( PG or UG).


Students must apply for admission in one of the courses in the prescribed admission form Online. The admission form can be obtained online by visiting the college website The form should be filled up online and submitted thereafter by paying an amount of Rs. 120/- through Debit card/Credit card/Net Banking. A printout (hard copy) of the filled up form and the 'payment receipt' should be retained by the student and produced at the time of admission.


The academic and administrative affair of the college is managed by a Governing Body (GB), which is the chief executive body of the institution. Discretionary powers are vested upon the governing body and the Principal of the college controls and undertakes the responsibility for the maintenance of standard of education, inter-departmental coordination, examination, research and infrastructure development of the college. The Principal is assisted by the Vice Principal, the teaching and non-teaching staff for smooth running of the administration.

The women forum of Morigaon College was established on 29th November 2005 by the lady teachers of the college, to work for the advancement of the girl students and women of the Morigaon district.

The broad objectives of the Morigaon Mahavidylaya Mahila Mancha (MMMM) are:-

1. To work for the overall development of the girl students of the college in particular and other students in general.
2. To work for the empowerment and betterment of the women of the society.
