DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

The Department of Commerce is a leading and the pioneer centre of commerce education in the entire Morigaon district. The department was established in Aug.2012 with two specializations (Accountancy & Management) under the affiliation of Gauhati University. At the time of it’s establishment there were 04 faculties and 81 no.s  of students . The department today flourishes and continues with 298 no.s of students pursuing B.Com course along with 05 no.s of faculties. Established with the core objective of imparting Commercial-Education, the department has till now successfully produced   05 outgoing batches.

a). Road-Show award From SBI MORIGAON BRANCH to commerce department in the Golden-Jubilee Celebration.
b). Best graduate award From commerce department By Miss Poja Bhowmik (Batch 2013) with 76.7%.
c). Best Library User Award For the session 2017-18 to Mr. Mukul Deka (Batch 2016) from commerce department.

f.         AWARENESS  PROGRAMME during initial phase of COVID -19 Pandemic about safety rules and social distancing.

g.       PLANTATION PROGRAMME  organised by the department in Bhurbondha PHE and Bhurbondha junior college along with its students.

Strength :

Weakness :

i)                   Department is Not Provincialized.

ii)                  No. smart class room for Advance learning

iii)               Shortage of faculties

Opportunities :

i)                   Only one degree College having Commerce in Morigaon Town.

ii)                 As the only commerce institute , it promotes entrepreneurship and development by providing commercial education and can provide avenues for self dependence.

Challenges :

i)                   Quality of student input.
